Akala is a BAFTA and MOBO award winning hip hop artist, writer and social-entrepreneur, as well as the co founder of The Hip Hop Shakespeare Company.

Having gained a reputation as one of the most dynamic and literate talents in the UK known for his lyrical storytelling, Akala's modern polemic NATIVES - A Sunday Times Bestseller takes his own experiences and widens them out to look at the social, historical and political factors that have left us where we are today.

From the first time he was stopped and searched as a child, to the day he realised his mum was white, to his first encounters with racist teachers - race and class have shaped Akala's life and outlook.

In conversation, Akala and guests will discuss everything from empire and race to culture and class, retracing and contextualising the roots of modern British society
