serpentwithfeet is an avant-garde vocalist and performance artist whose growing body of work is rooted in dueling obsessions with the ephemeral and the everlasting – key components of his artistic journey from a childhood stint as a choirboy in Baltimore through his time at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he studied vocal performance before relocating to New York City. The calibre of serpentwithfeet is reflected in the equally envelope-pushing artists he chooses to collaborate with: Björk, Kelela, Zebra Katz.

We’ve been obsessed since 2016’s blisters EP and have only become more so since experiencing his stunning performance when he sold out our venue down the road, Village Underground, back in 2018 around the release of his debut album soil. And we could see him perform a hundred times more.

"His music as serpentwithfeet is characterized by its sombre, biblical nature but it is how funny and how generous Wise is on stage that marks him out as an artist to watch. It feels like Josiah Wise has always had something powerful to share with the world and now, he's finally worked out how to share it." - Under The Radar on serpentwithfeet’s show at Village Underground last year
