  • EartH (Evolutionary Arts Hackney) 11-17 Stoke Newington Road London, England, N16 8BH United Kingdom (map)

Theatre - Unallocated Seating

Soap&Skin's headline show at EartH follows the release of 'From Gas to Solid / you are my friend', her first album since 2012's critically lauded 'Narrow'.

Her music has a quietly devastating beauty, consisting of vivid poetry and compositional ambition - and fusing classical, electronic, gothic, avant-rock, torch song and singer-songwriter traditions. The pseudonym of Anja Plaschg, Soap&Skin references influences such as Cat Power, Björk, David Bowie, and Nico. She has collaborated and played alongside artists as far-reaching as Apparat, Anna Calvi, Omar Souleyman and Laeticia Sadier.

On her Soap&Skin project, Plaschg explains: “My music is so personal, it comes from experiencing life, so I always knew I’m not the kind to release an album every year,” she admits. “I need to collect and grow.” Her growth working on her most recent release has consisted of her "[letting] go of what I thought I loved and needed, which also meant bringing enormously painful things up from my subconscious – from gas to solid.
