Arif Sağ & Barış Güney *NEW DATE*
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak this event has been rescheduled to 4 October 2020. All tickets remain valid.
The first event of the Anatolian Chronicles series features saz (Turkish guitar) players, Arif Sağ and Barış Güney.
The event is being held by RedMusic, a music production company that works to promote Anatolian music to the world. Talking about the sag, RedMusic say, “Imagine an instrument that its sound cures every ailment. Imagine an instrument which is an interpreter of the language between the creator and the prayerful society. Imagine an instrument which is a help cry of the downtrodden people. Imagine an instrument that furnishes the mud-brick wall on which it is hung with all the colours of the world…” – their passion for the instrument is palpable.
Demonstrating the power of the sag will be Arif Sağ, who will be opening a door of a historical journey for those who will listen to thousands of years of traditional melodies and folk songs. Next, Barış Güney will be expertly performing syncopated rhythmic patterns. Together, they will take on an experimental quest with their repertoire which tradition blends with the future.
