This event will take place in EartH Theatre.
You probably already know Holly Walker’s soft, keening voice. Longtime Maribou State collaborator, her voice lends depth and hooks to many of their hits. But the London artist has been making her own music long before and since. After finding a creative soulmate in Mercury-nominated co-producer Jamie Woon, she is finally ready to release her debut solo album Unsung to the world - a sharp, piercing look at the long shadow of grief and the beauty you find in life when it begins to lift.
Recorded and mixed by Lexxx (Jai Paul, Arca) with esteemed London musicians Dave Okumu (Grace Jones, Jessie Ware) and Dan See (Lianne La Havas, Tom Jones), Unsung gets to the heart of Walker's celestial songwriting. Having toured extensively with Maribou State, including Glastonbury and Brixton Academy, Walker now brings her own live show on the road in Autumn 2023. 'The songs are written to people I know, about things I've wanted to say for a long time, but couldn't find the words. They finally burst out of me. I wrote them mostly at home, on keys, in an old-fashioned way. I wanted storytelling, to try and make something timeless, with live musicians at the heart of it. Have that religious experience.'
