SQÜRL presents an evening of original live scores to four films by Man Ray.
This is set to be something special: Formed by Jim Jarmusch (electric guitar, synthesizer, loops) and Carter Logan (synthesizers, percussion, loops), Sqürl hail from New York City, with a penchant for drums and distorted guitars, cassette recordings, molten stoner core and screwed hip hop. For their EartH show, the duo will present an evening of original live scores to four films by Man Ray: L’Etoile De Mer, Emak Bakia, Retour a la Raison and Les Mysteres Du Chateau Du De. As long-time collaborators, Jim and Carter established Sqürl under the name Bad Rabbit in 2009, when they decided to soundtrack Jim’s The Limits of Control themselves after unsuccessfully sourcing other music for the film. Since then they’ve worked on Only Lovers Left Alive, Paterson and Gimme Danger, amongst many others. There’s a great interview with the prolific pair in Vulture from a few years back to whet your appetite ahead of this experimental evening.
